Trust response to Environmental Standards Scotland draft strategy
The Environmental Standard Scotland (ESS) is a new independent public body, established by the UK Withdrawal from the European Union (Continuity) (Scotland) Act 2021.
Following the UK's departure from the EU, this organisation has been created to monitor the effectiveness of environmental law in Scotland and public authorities’ compliance with it.
A consultation on the draft strategy sought views on the organisation's vision, mission, strategic objectives and ways of working. The strategy will guide the future work of the ESS as it seeks to ensure public authorities in Scotland comply with environmental law and standards.
The Trust considered the draft strategy from the perspective of wild places and our work advocating for the protection of wild places. You can view the Trust's response below.
