Trust objects to the extension of the Creag Riabhach Wind Farm
The Trust believes that the proposal to extend the Creag Riabhach Wind Farm, with three additional wind turbines and a battery energy storage system, would have an unacceptable impact on Class 1 and Class 2 peatland.
We objected to the original application primarily on the basis that the site was unsuitable for wind farm development. We believe this is still true, and is particularly relevant with the increased protection for peatlands under the Policy 5 of the National Planning Framework 4.
Further, the applicant's failure to comply with the original Peat Management Plan undermines our confidence in their biodiversity enhancement and restoration promises.
