Trust objects to Glen Ullinish II Wind Farm
The site of the proposed Glen Ullinish II Wind Farm is part of a craggy and rugged coastline which includes Oronsay Island, Harloch Island and Bharcasaig Bay. All of these places were chosen as people’s favourite wild places in our recent survey of Wild Places in the UK.
It is estimated that the development would require up to 613,417m³ of peat excavation in an area largely comprised of nationally important Class 1 peatland. With the carbon impact of this peat excavation it could take 12.3 years, when using the expected electricity grid mix for the lifetime of the proposed development, to pay back the carbon produced during the construction of the development.
