The Trust objects to Culachy Wind Farm
Culachy Wind Farm (ECU ref. ECU00003423) is a revision of a development which was previously refused on appeal in 2018. The original development, featuring 13 turbines, was refused because it was found that the positive benefits of the proposal were outweighed by the adverse effects on landscape and visual amenity, including effects on wild land. The Trust objected to the original development because of these unacceptable impacts.
The Trust believes that the revised proposal for 8 turbines within the Braeroy - Glenshirra - Creag Meagaidh WLA would have an unacceptable impact and has therefore objected to the development.
Our key points of objection are outlined below:
- by significantly impacting a WLA the development would contravene Policy 4(g) of the National Planning Framework 4 (‘NPF4’);
- the development would exacerbate the adverse effects that existing infrastructure has already had on the wild quality of the landscape;
- the proposed site, which is almost entirely of Class 1 peatland, is in breach of Policy 5(a), (c) and Policy 2(a) on NPF4.
Our objection is available to download below.
