Glenshero wind farm

Read our responses to Highland Council in relation to the proposed Glenshero wind farm c8km west of Laggan, in the Monadhliath mountains.

The Glenshero development site sits immediately south of the Stronelairg wind farm site.  An application  was submitted in October 2018 for 39 turbines of up to 135m. Approximately 28km of new track would also be created. The development has the potential to impact on three of Scotland's official Wild Land Areas:-

  • WLA19 Braeroy – Glenshirra-Creag Meagaidh
  • WLA20 Monadhliaths
  • WLA14 Rannoch-Nevis – Mamores-Alder

Updates

  • November 2019 - Highland Council have objected to the proposal. The final decision rests with Scottish Government Ministers.
  • March 2022 - Scottish Ministers announced they had refused planning permission for the development.
