Urgent path repairs needed on Nevis
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We are blown away by the response to our appeal. With the help of the Big Give Green Match Fund, we raised over £10,000 in the first 10 hours - but there is still some way to go...
Have you been inspired by an exhilarating day of walking on Ben Nevis? Or maybe you’ve set yourself the challenge of standing on the summit of Britain’s highest mountain for the first time in 2023?
More than 160,000 people visit Ben Nevis every year looking for a sense wildness, adventure or achievement. However the impact of all those boots on the ground, along with the effects of extreme mountain weather, means that the summit footpath is now in urgent need of repair.
We need £50,000 to complete essential path repairs on Ben Nevis this year. Without these repairs the path will continue to deteriorate, becoming increasingly unsafe and difficult to follow. Walkers are more likely to stray from a path that is in poor condition, inadvertently causing damage to the surrounding rare and fragile alpine habitat.
Thanks to everyone who supported our Big Give Green Match Fund appeal, we have made a good start towards reaching our £50,000 target for path repairs, but we still have a way to go.
It is a great privilege and responsibility to manage Ben Nevis, but we need your support. Together we can ensure that fragile habitats are protected and that people can enjoy this spectacular wild place long into the future.
