Trust joins call to action for Target 2030
Read why we are joining Education Scotland, Scottish Government and partners to issue a call to action to embed climate change education and outdoor learning within Scotland’s curriculum.
The Target 2030 Call to Action aims to mobilise people across education and learning in Scotland to work together for the benefit of our people, planet and prosperity. The goal is to work together to tackle the nature and climate emergencies and make sure that rights, equalities and social justice are at the heart of the movement for change.
Toby Clark, the Trust’s John Muir Award Scotland Manager (pictured below), attended the launch at Dynamic Earth. He said: “We believe that people’s freedom to enjoy the benefits of wild places helps inspire action and advocacy for wild places. The more people connect with nature, the stronger the impact on pro-environmental behaviours.
“We’re delighted to back this movement because we know the transformative role that learning outdoors through the John Muir Award and Junior Ranger schemes can play in building a fairer, greener Scotland – essential for us to become a Net Zero Nation.”
The Trust is committed to engaging people and helping realise the ambition of the refreshed Learning for Sustainability Action Plan, which includes a recognition of our John Muir Award environmental award scheme as a way of measuring and valuing learner pathways.
