Prospect trade union has signed a voluntary recognition agreement with the John Muir Trust to represent its staff in collective bargaining. The new agreement is designed to support a modern inclusive workplace culture and commits the parties to work together to achieve mutual goals.
The agreement was signed formally at East Schiehallion on Friday 27 September. The Trust’s work to protect and restore the habitat and wildlife of the mountain, to enable natural processes to thrive in this special wild place, is representative of its work to protect wild places across Scotland and the UK.
Prospect’s heritage sector already represents thousands of specialists and other members across natural heritage as well as museums and galleries. This latest recognition agreement adds to the union’s work in representing and championing the needs of the heritage workforce in the UK.
Angela Gannon, Prospect Negotiations Officer, said: “This recognition agreement represents a new chapter in the relationship between the John Muir Trust and its employees. Prospect has a wealth of experience representing members in the sector and we look forward to working together to better protect the wild areas we all cherish.”
David Balharry, Chief Executive of the John Muir Trust said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Prospect Union to ensure the wellbeing of all our staff and to provide a workplace that attracts, retains, and rewards talented people who are passionate about protecting wild places.”
