Wild Moment: Gus Routledge
"This sense of isolation is hard to achieve in the modern world / So once all was below me my mind unfurled..."
As I leave the village of Well and wash house,
In fog and mist and low lain clouds,
I meet tall strangers that the blanket does shroud.
Some stand where they’ve stood for many year,
Whilst other stand with a long future here.
They drift past in the silence that is cast down,
As I strive to climb up to the crown.
Further still I plunder on though my lungs are not feeling good,
And pass children hopefully enjoying their childhood.
For when I was young I cherished these moments of freedom,
And still love to escape the peoples’ kingdom.
Upon arrival at the top, all is clear.
This is why I come here.
This sense of isolation is hard to achieve in the modern world,
So once all was below me my mind unfurled.
The descent to the world hidden from the hills was quick,
As they condense on my face, the clouds so thick.
I depart this place unwillingly, but feeling glad,
As I can always return to scenes like Kilmagad.
I emerge back out by the road,
Feeling content again, as my smile glowed.
