Wild Moment: Michael Hughes
'...Profound peace settles.' An early member of the Trust shares three haikus - his response to being in his favourite wild landscapes.
Longtime member of the Trust Michael Hughes has been walking and climbing the Scottish hills (and volunteering on our conservation work parties) for decades. He has recently started expressing his deep love of Scotland’s land and seascapes - and fascination with its geology - through poetry.
On The Buachaille
Easter snow drifts up.
Carabiner clinks on rock.
Profound peace settles.
Shelter
Rain turning to snow.
Sorley's kindly forest brides
offer their birch bield.
Rothiemurchus
Sunlight awakens
a Rothiemurchus Scots pine.
Heady resin fumes.
